Applicants who are accepted into this program and who participate in training are asked to complete at least one year of volunteer activities. This does not eliminate you from consideration for shorter assignments or projects in this program.

Each year, volunteers have the opportunity to earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which is a national honor that recognizes people who volunteer in their communities. The award is given by the President of the United States. To be eligible, you must be a United States citizen or a lawfully admitted permanent resident. Please note: this does NOT impact your ability to volunteer, and is only asked for the purposes of this award.
