Hershey Gardens opened in 1937 with Milton Hershey’s request to “create a nice garden of roses.” More than 80 years later, the small rose garden has blossomed into 23 acres of botanical beauty providing visitors with unique experiences and enriching opportunities.

Overlooking the town of Hershey, Hershey Gardens features a breathtaking assortment of flowers and shrubs, a stately collection of rare, signature trees, and various programs designed to delight visitors of all ages.

3,000 Roses In Bloom

The historical highlight of Hershey Gardens, this is where it all began in 1937. The brilliant assortment of 3,000 roses representing 115 varieties includes an interesting mix of heights, colors and flower forms of Hybrid Tea, floribunda, shrub, and miniature roses, and features the new AARS rose variety winners each year.

Beautiful morning walk Beautiful way to spend the morning! We purchased the combo ticket for the Hershey Story museum (loved that as well). The views of Hershey are spectacular. The rose garden is breathtaking.

Very fun! This is a very well maintained place. Our family enjoyed strolling the grounds and seeing a lot of neat settings and decor. I'm not plant enthusiast per se, but even I enjoyed walking around this place. Good for a couple hours. The butterfly room was great too.

Beautiful and user-friendly small gardens. We hoo to a lot of gardens so when I say this is the best rose collection I've ever seen... Perhaps it was the June weather or the decades of work or the overall soil or climate but the Rose's were spectacular. Also very nice: the small but charming butterfly pavilion, the stained glass butterflies in the entrance hall, the Bernoulli balancing ball near the Children's Garden, (do not miss this), the Japaese Garden, and the mother tree in the rock garden.

Great place to spend a relaxing day The Hershey Gardens is a nice relaxing place to visit if you are in the area. The whole area is well kept and parking is very convenient. Tickets are reasonably priced. The flowers are well kept, however most of the gardens did not have blooming plants. It was a very peaceful walk with well established shade trees and many songbirds inhabiting the grounds. It’s approximately a mile to walk the entire path which is mostly paved. The butterfly garden is amazing. There are many different types of butterfly species and you have the opportunity to get up close to them. I would recommend a visit to Hershey Gardens for anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful place to spend some time.

Beautiful gardens, great value My husband and I went on a whim to Hershey Gardens on our last day in Lancaster and we were so happy to make the 40 minute drive. The gardens were beautiful. We’ve been to Longwood Gardens many, many times and while Hershey Gardens is no where near as big, the rose gardens, walking paths and butterfly atrium were all worth it. The butterfly atrium was so beautiful! It was a relaxing day enjoying everything nature has to offer at a great value, as the tickets were less than $15.
