SUMMARY:Saving Nature at Home with Dr. Desiree Narango (at The Hershey Story Museum)
DESCRIPTION:Manada Conservancy and Hershey Gardens present Dr. Narango\, who will speak about her research studying how residential landscapes and gardening practices influence wildlife habitats. She will compare how native and non-native plant species vary in supporting species interactions\, as well as the relationship between plants and insects and why insects matter to birds. Plus\, learn small steps you can take to improve and restore habitat for wildlife at home. \nDr. Desiree Narango is a conservation scientist at the Vermont Center for Ecostudies in White River Junction\, VT. Her research program focuses on understanding how global change impacts bird and insect populations and identifying biodiversity conservation solutions in human-dominated habitats. Desiree has a Ph.D. in Entomology and Wildlife Ecology from the University of Delaware\, an M.S. in Natural Resources from The Ohio State University\, and a B.S. in Environmental Biology from SUNY: ESF. She’s also an active naturalist and gardener who enjoys getting others excited about the natural world. \nPlease note: due to construction\, this lecture will take place at The Hershey Story Museum\, located at 63 West Chocolate Ave in Hershey.  RVSPs are not required.
